268 fire doors, each one traceable

268fire doors inspected

The brief

Arsenal asked us to establish the condition of every fire-resisting door at their training centre, and to give them a baseline to manage the doors against.

What we did

We inspected every fire door across the training centre's buildings. Each door was checked for gaps, seals, closing and latching, hardware, glazing and signage, following BS 8214 and PAS 79-2, and tagged with its own QR code so its record and photographs stay linked to the door.

What the client received

A door by door report with a photographed record for every door, a proportionate programme of work, and a baseline for routine inspection from then on.

Fire strategies and assessments across a showroom estate

The brief

Renault Retail Group needed fire safety advice across new and refurbished sites, from showroom fit-outs to existing buildings.

What we did

  • Alpine Centre, Park Lane, Mayfair: the fire strategy for the full refurbishment of the ground and lower ground floors into a vehicle and simulator showroom.
  • Basement car park, 55 Park Lane: a strategy for introducing electric vehicle charging alongside the existing fire alarm, sprinklers and smoke ventilation.
  • Renault London West, Brentford: the fire risk assessment of a new-build site.
  • Battersea Power Station: the fire strategy and fire risk assessments for a new showroom, described below.

What the client received

Strategies issued to the design team and the Building Control Approver, and updated as the design developed.

A new showroom, ready to open

The brief

Renault Retail Group was fitting out a new showroom in a shell-and-core retail unit at Battersea Power Station, a development governed by a sitewide fire strategy.

What we did

We wrote the fire strategy for the opening of the showroom, aligned with the sitewide fire strategy, and carried out the fire risk assessment during fit-out so the team knew what had to be in place before trading.

What the client received

A strategy and assessment the fit-out team could work to, followed by the fire risk assessment on occupation once the showroom opened.

A tenant strategy that works within the centre's

The brief

A new tenant was opening a café and children's play attraction at Watermark WestQuay. The fit-out had to work within the landlord's fire strategy and the centre's fit-out requirements.

What we did

We wrote the tenant fire strategy, aligned with the landlord's strategy and fit-out guide. It covers fire detection linked to the landlord's fire alarm and voice alarm, a play area laid out so escape is never obstructed, and the catering arrangements.

What the client received

A strategy issued to centre management, the landlord's onboarding team and Building Control, with clear design actions for the fit-out team.

Fire risk assessment for pharmaceutical manufacturing

The brief

Bristol Laboratories needed fire risk assessments for its pharmaceutical premises that its insurers, lenders and the licensing authority could rely on.

What we did

At the Luton manufacturing facility we assessed a licensed pharmaceutical site of cleanrooms, laboratories and a high-bay warehouse, operating on two shifts. We also assessed Bristol House in Berkhamsted. Both followed PAS 79-1:2020, with testing records, contractor certificates and management arrangements checked on site.

What the client received

A report for each site, written so the Responsible Person can share it with insurers, lenders and the licensing authority.
